What is the importance of the Postal Insurance?
If you think the package that you are sending is expensive,then you can take a postal insurance for that, means if any thing happened to that then postal service will pay you the amount you insured for. (Few days back i ordered camera online, after i received i decided to return it back. Since its cost was $800, i thought it would be good to take insurance so i took it. I have paid $9 as a insurance charge for that product.Insurance cost vary depends on the price of the product ). You no need to take postal insurance for all the items that you send, its based on the product cost.
How to track a package?
When you post the package or if some one posted some thing to you, you can track the package details anytime you want, like currently at which location it is and when it will be delivered. (I hope U.S.P.S updates the website only once in a day, that is everyday evening). To track the package information you need to give the Label / Receipt number (Number will be shown on the receipt you get when you post any item).I think you find this facility only with express and priority mails.
Proof of Delivery?
Proof of Delivery is a mail that includes the recipient's name and a copy of their signature. You can request Proof of Delivery to be emailed, faxed, or mailed to you for no additional fee for only Express Mail and Signature Confirmation services.
Track & Confirm by Email :
Track & Confirm by email is an online feature that saves you time by allowing the United States Postal Service to send current delivery status information on your mail . There are two options: email all activity to-date (Email all activity to-date will provide a single email to each recipient stating the current delivery status information.) or email all future activity( Email all future activity will generate an email any time we receive a delivery or delivery related event (such as attempted, refused, returned to sender, or forwarded).
Return Receipt:
Return Receipt (Electronic) provides a copy of the proof of delivery record via email when requested online. This service is available for purchase at the time of mailing with Certified Mail, Insured Mail, Collection on Delivery and Registered Mails only.
How to send post (Without going to the post office): If you are not using the service of Package Pickup right from your office then you can drop the mails at near by post box or you can hand it over to the post man (If you get a chance).
Address Change: When you are moving to new address then your old address will be no longer useful for you to receive posts. At that time you can give any of your known person address (If you are not sure about your new address) as temporary address . So you need to change your address at U.S.P.S website. For address change U.S.P.S will charge you just $1, you can change the address online by using your debit or credit card. Once you find the new address then again you can change your address again at U.S.P.S website.

If you were not there to receive the package that you are expecting, then postal service keeps a note about the package. So immediately you can visit the correct postal service location to get the package by showing your identity.

- Its better to Buy a Cello tapes / Brown package tapes or other stuff outside (at Walmart or at Dollar tree), since at U.S.P.S they charge high for the same.

- Use the free pickup facility when ever possible.
- When you move household goods make sure the dimensions of the box.

- If you want to send the international mails, then ask the post representative how much total postal stamps should be sticked on the mail. (Eg: If you want to send the envelop from U.S to Canada it will be approximately 68 cents).
