Bank Account - Debit Card

Savings account - To have any bank account, we need to have 'Savings a/c' first, its mandatory to open any other account in most of the banks. Savings account policies will change from bank to bank. In some banks at least 5$ should be there to open savings account, for some banks it would be 25$. We can't use savings account regularly, there is some restrictions on number of times to use.

Checking account - Its important account for us to do any transaction with bank. We can use checking account frequently, of course it will be interlinked to savings account. It will be good if you maintain online access to track all the transactions. If you want to send the money to India then you can link the checking account to money to India account (Money 2 India ) too.

Service Charges[Bank of America]:

• Bank of America will charge you around $6 as service charge per month if you don't use that account as a salary account. [Most of the employers wont do the direct deposit in first three months after you join in the consultancy, at that time you can see $6 deductions for every month in your Bank of America transactions].
  
• If you order cheques through bank then they will be charged around $11 per 100 cheques.
  
• In case if you want to cancel the cheque then there will some additional charges. (some times you will get waiver off too)
• They won't charge any thing to print your photo on the card.

Importance Information [Bank of America]:

• When you open the new account in Bank of America better to give any of your friends / known person account as referral, so that both will be benefited like your friend will get $25 as referral and you will get $35. [But remember these amounts will be deposited only after 3 months]
• Through Bank officer i came to know that an account holder will receive the debit card with in 5-7 business days if you don't want to print your picture on the card.
  
• Once you get the card then you can apply for the new photo printed debit card again. Mean while you can use the first card without waiting for that card.
  
• If you open the 'Bank of America' account without S.S.N then its not possible to do the online transactions till you update the S.S.N in the bank and it should be no later than 30 days after you open the account.
